Tim Tyson Presentation

This movie is incredible!  I found it really inspiring to know that 11 and 12 year olds can make movies like the ones shown in the presentation.  One of the student speakers said something about being in an “I Club” and I wonder how much of the movie they put together in there.  I would love to know if the teacher helped them along the way with editing, footage, adding sound, etc.

You know, I really appreciate the fact that all three of our classes seem to be reinforcing the same things.  I was just telling my husband, I think I’m going to need to schedule a ton of time in the computer lab.  I’m really concerned about the kids that don’t have computers.  I want to incorporate them so much – especially because it seems like everyone is really stressing the fact that we need to share student products with the world.  I just feel that if I make technology (ex: blogging) mandatory, some kids will suffer due to the lack of money.  Am I overreacting, or is this a valid concern?

Watch both of these videos! This one is amazing, the second is funny…

This one isn’t funny…but it’s amazing. This has to be adjusted. Right???

Some of my favorite media…COMBINED!!!

This is a great clip.  I came across this when I was trying to spoil the Lost finale for myself.  These are a few reasons why I love the clip:

  • Funny dialogue
  • Creative
  • Combination between show and movie

So, I have to confess that I was a pretty big fan of Lost, but like most people, I got frustrated with the show because it doesn’t give you that many answers.  I worked my way through the first few episodes of Season 3.  Then, I got so mad at the show, that I started looking on YouTube for the last episode so that I could just go head and spoil the series for myself.  I watched the last episode and began talking about it with a friend.  Go figure, when I started asking questions, and hearing the answers, I found that I needed to go back and watch the episodes that I skipped.  I guess I’ll do that when I have nothing else to do.  (I’m still a little mad at the show.)

The blogging experience…

Okay, so now I’m not as tired as I was before; but I’m still tired.  So far, I think blogging is pretty cool.  This really reminds me of Myspace, but it seems that blogging on this particular website has a greater purpose.  I can see how easily it would be to contact students, add and explain classroom assignments, and answer questions.  It seems very convenient, and super easy.  I barely had to read the directions on the Special Instructions document in order to get this thing running.

Overall, I think this will be a wonderful teaching tool.

Good morning…

I would just like everyone in the world to know that it is 1:33am on a Friday night…and I’m doing ….homework.  :(
